OPSC OCS Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2025
The Odisha Civil Services (Combined Competitive Recruitment Exam) can be taken in 3 phases: preliminaries exams, mains, and interviews. The first phase is qualifying as well as the selection process of candidates, which will be made based on the overall marks achieved by applicants in the mains and interviews.
OPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2025
The marks earned in the prelims test won’t be considered when making the merit list at the end. However, applicants need to do well because the prelims exam is used to shortlist candidates for the mains examination.
- The Odisha Civil Service Prelims Exam comprises two General Studies papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must be present for both papers.
- An average of 33% are required to be qualified to take GS Paper 2, and for GS Paper 1, the qualifying marks will be set by the Commission.
- There are the equivalent of 200 Questions (Objective type) for each paper. The duration of each paper is approximately 2 hours (120 minutes).
- For every right answer, 1 point is awarded. Every wrong answer is a 1/3 mark (0.33) reduction.

Mains Exam Pattern
The marks earned in the seven compulsory subjects (except Odia and English Language) and in the interview will be considered when preparing the merit lists for final selection. All nine papers in the OCS Mains of OPSC will be descriptive and compulsory to take.
- The OPSC OCS Mains Exam comprises 2 qualifying papers and seven questions to be assessed on the merits list.
- Each paper will be three hours in duration (180 minutes) and will be delivered over more than five days.
- Candidates must achieve a minimum of 25 per cent points in Odia or English Language.
