UGC NET December 2024 Exam Postponed
NTA has Postponed UGC NET Test Scheduled for Jan 15 2025. The National Testing Agency, (NTA), has postponed December 2024’s UGC NET exam scheduled for January 15. This postponement was made after it was requested to delay the exam due to Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and other festivals that fall on January 15th. NTA announced that the new date for the exam will be announced in due course.
UGC NET exam is conducted to award Junior Research Fellowship, appoint Assistant Professors and to admit PhD students. The UGC NET exam for December 2024 is held in 85 subjects. The UGC NET exam December 2024 which began on January 3 was meant to continue until January 16. NTA said that the exams scheduled for January 16 will proceed as per the earlier schedule. The exams are being conducted online in two shifts, the first between 9 am and 12 noon and then the second from 3 pm to 6 pm.

UGC NET December 2024 Exam Postponed Reason for Exam Postponed
Last week, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin asked Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan if he could postpone UGC NET exams, noting the difficulties it would cause for many candidates if they coincided with Pongal holidays.
All Tamils celebrate the four-day Pongal festival with great enthusiasm. In a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, he stated that Tamil Nadu has already declared holidays between January 14-17.
The UGC NET examination scheduled for 15 January has been delayed for the following subjects: These subjects’ exams will be held at a future date.

How to download UGC NET Admit Cards
The admit card will be available a week before the date of the postponed examination. You can download UGC admit card by following these steps:
- Go to the official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
- Click the link to download the UGC NET December 2024 Admit Card on the homepage.
- Enter the login credentials, and then submit them.
- Download and view your admit card
- Save a copy of your admit card to use in the future.
UGC Minimum Qualifying marks
Candidates must achieve the UGC Net minimum qualifying marks on both Papers 1 and 2 combined. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories must score at least 35%, while General and EWS candidates need to achieve 40%.

UGC has entrusted the National Testing Agency with administering the UGC Net for 83 subjects to determine the eligibility of Indian students to become “Assistant Professors” or to receive “Junior Research Fellows”. This article will cover the UGC NET curriculum. UGC NET is divided in two papers: Paper-I and Paper-II. Both papers are multiple-choice questions (MCQ).
