Thousands of banking candidates take the SBI Clerk preliminary and main exams each year in hopes of being selected for the Junior Associate positions that are posted that year. SBI has posted 14191 openings for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, with the deadline for online applications being January 7, 2025.

SBI Clerk Exam Date 2025 – Tentative Dates
In contrast to previous years, thousands of applicants have applied online for the SBI Clerk Exam this year as well. Following the online application process, they await the SBI Clerk Exam Date 2025, which will be announced separately for the preliminary and main exams. State Bank of India Clerk Prelims Expected Date
The preliminary exam, which is administered to the thousands of applicants for the aforementioned positions this year, is the first step in the selection process for SBI Clerk Recruitment. The preliminary exam is scheduled for February 2025, and the admit cards will be made available seven to ten days prior to the exam date. Depending on the volume of applications, the preliminary exam may take place over two days and be administered in four shifts each day. Since preliminary exams are only used to shortlist applicants for the main exam and the scores obtained will not be taken into account for the final merit list, this stage will be qualifying in nature.
There will be 100 questions on the preliminary exam, which will be split between portions on English language, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning ability. One mark will be awarded for each right response, and 0.25 points will be subtracted for each wrong answer. The exam has a total duration of 60 minutes (1 hour), with 20 minutes allotted for each section.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Date 2025
The SBI Clerk Mains test is tentatively scheduled for March or April 2025 for those candidates who qualified for the preliminary exam. Depending on how many applicants passed the preliminary exam, the exam may be held over one or two days, with only two shifts per day. Although this will be the last step in the selection process, a qualifying local regional language test will be administered following this. The final merit list will be created using the Mains exam scores.
With the exception of the General English test, all portions of the SBI Clerk Mains will be bilingual (in Hindi and English), and the questions will be objective in nature. In the objective tests, incorrect responses will result in a 1/4 mark deduction. The exam will last two hours and forty minutes, and each section will have its own time.
